Is Your Current Golf Handicap in the Bunker? Try These Tips!

In order to successfully play golf you need a blend of skill and endurance. Easier said than done, right? Use these golf tips to discover what you need to start golfing like a pro and improve your golf handicap.

Keep Same Positioning

If your golf shot is gravitating to the right, then verify if your body leans left as you swing. On the downswing, focus on releasing the ball swiftly with your hands. Doing this can make your shots infinitely better.

Contrary to what most people say, keep the same ball positioning for all your shots. This will help you maintain a permanent stance. When you are aiming for a loftier shot, you will want to play the ball towards the back of your stance. This method will help you choose the best club for the particular situation.

Use the right Irons for Driving

When you are at the driving range doing warm-ups, commence your sessions out with lofted irons in the 8 or 9 ranges, or even your pitching wedge. These are the clubs that will propel you into your zone and give you confidence as you move up to making use of the more tricky irons and woods.

It doesn’t matter how good you are at golf, there is a good likelihood your ball will land in a bunker or sand trap. The act of playing out of a trap can lead to large holes in the sand that lead to problems for golfers playing behind you.

Bunker Issues or Trap

Stick to the proper techniques and restore the bunker or sand trap when you are finished. This is just considered the proper golf etiquette. Smooth sand wreaks less problems on the next players sand trap shot.

Speed is Critical but can be an Issue

Speed is a critical factor when you are attempting to make a long distance putt. Instead of aiming for the hole, read the putt and shoot for an intermediate target. You will greatly improve your chances for a simpler short putt if you don’t overshoot or undershoot your first one.

Attention to the Green

Good golfing requires you pay close attention to the green and the other golfers. You have to be prepared when its time to take your turn. Other golfers behind you are gathering around waiting around for the hole to free up, and they cannot play until your group has moved through.

Discover and Keep the Right Stance

Keep the proper stance. Try tapping your toes without your feet moving to see if you are in the right stance. With a small amount of effort, tapping your toes should not be a problem.

If you find that it is really simple to tap, then you are leaning too far back; conversely, if you struggle to tap your toes, then you are leaning too far forward. This will help you discover the stance that performs best for you.

Your stance is essential, but since everyone is unique, it is impossible to determine the correct stance without experimentation. Implementing the right stance is a must for any avid player.

Feet Position

Your feet must be lined up in the correct manner. This is maybe the simplest and most effective way to enhance your golf swing. Your feet need to be perpendicular and lined up straight to the way you wish the ball to go. One common way to make sure your feet are in alignment with where you want to hit the ball is to lay your club in a way that it is touching the toes on both your feet.

The right Golf Grip or Hold

Use a neutral hold on your golf club. A grip that is overly tight will propel your shot rightwards. However, failing to grip the club firmly enough will result in the ball to fly to the left. Analyze what direction your shots are travelling in, and then make changes to your grip accordingly.

When you swing a golf club, put your whole body into it. Not only your arms, but also your chest will serve as your powerhouse. Using your entire body to swing your club can really improve your game on the golf course. This will help you to get the ball further, possibly without having to swing your arms so hard.

Improve your Game with Golf Exercise

Most golfers rely too much on the equipment. They ignore golf exercise, mental game and playing condition. Especially, flexibility training is important, if you want to improve your golf swing power and driving distance. If you are inflexible, you will not be able to take full back swings.

You need to exercise mainly the middle of your body, abdominal area and lower back. This is also the area most susceptible to injury.

Every golfer wants to achieve golf swing consistency. They take lessons, buy new equipment, but it does not make much of a difference.

If you want to improve your game, you need to set up an exercise program. There are several simple exercises that will strengthen your abdominal area and your back.

The seated twist is an excellent stretching exercise. It will loosen your back and allow you to have a greater back swing. This will result in more power and more distance.

Sit upright in a chair with your left arm reach behind you and rotate to the left.  Hold this position for about 10 seconds then reach behind you with your right arm and rotate to the right. Hold also for about 10 seconds.

More on Exercise:

Sit on the floor with knees bend, heels on the floor and point toes up. Then Lean back and rotate shoulders or chest to the right and left, while holding your hands in front.  Do this about 15 times

Golf strength training is important, if you want to improve your score, enjoy your game more and feel better. No matter what your age is, resistance training can help you get into shape and prevent injuries.

Strength training involves lifting weights or working out on machines at home or at a gym. Before you start, check with your doctor to get approval to start your training.

If you don’t feel comfortable at a gym or if there are no gyms in your area, you can do your exercise at home. When you start out, you can do simple aerobic exercises with a couple of dumbbells.

You can do standing dumbbell curls. Curl a pair of dumbbells up to shoulder level and hold for a second before returning to the starting position. Repeat about 10-15 times.

In summary

With all said, to play golf well, you must blend accuracy, silence, feel, right tools and skill. The goal is simply to hit the ball into a cup a long distance away. To learn to play golf really well, you must study, read, watch videos and practice, practice, practice!
